Info/Owner

1967 GT 440 4-speed
Owner, Joseph Burns, Lebanon, Ohio

My first car was a 1970 Swinger, red with a black vinyl top, black center hood with dual scoops and a black bumblebee stripe. I bought it when I was 15 and it stayed in the garage, with me in it a lot of the time, until I got my license. I regret selling it, and hope to have one like it someday. My wife has been trying to find one for my 50th birthday, and she found this beauty! I love it! Best birthday present ever!!!!

1968 Dodge Dart 270 HT was a 273 motor now is Mr. Norm Recreation 70 383 hp. Mopar purple shaft 292 dur. 509 lft hyd cam, comp cam roller rockers, Hooker fenderwell headers,Flommaster mufflers,3" exhaust to rear bumper.Eldbrock 800 cfm carb, and performer intake. 8.75 posi.3.91 richmond gears 727 auto w/shift kit. HD rear springs, huge sway bars front and rear. On dyno 558 peak hp.,515 avrage hp., 410 to rear wheels, 600 ft. lbs. torque. All on pump gas. My freind Riley said do it large or dont do it at all.Proud to be a member of your club. Thanks Bob F.

The Mr. Norm tribute car. "Get in, sit down, shut up and you better hold on"

1968 Dart originally a 273 car. The car is a west coast survivor with only 70K original miles. The little but reliable motor was replaced with a built 1969 440, 727 tranny and 8 3/4 with 4.88's. Vitamin C orange with painted bumble bees.

Big fan of Mr. Norm and all his acomplishments. Thank you for building all those sweet mopars over the years! You are #1! Happy to be a part of your club.

Hi Mr. Norm, just got my membership package, thanks. I enclosed are a few pictures of my "Christmas present" from my wife. I had always said I wanted another Demon, nothing else would do, and here it is. She and my son found it on line from a seller in Ky. My son drove it part ways back and had a couple of problems, as kids will have!! Showing off. After a week in the shop, it was back on the road. Then we had a dash light switch problem, fixed. Got a couple of other small problems, like the mirrors are loose and new door locks, nothing we can't handle. I've had a few people ask if I wanted to sell it and I said it's a "family member" and will stay that way. One question, how do I find out the history of the car? Our local Dodge dealership said they can't go back that far for any history. Oh, well. Onward we go. Enjoy the pictures, Joe

Our Dustaar project. It started when we decided to add the infamous AAR package to a 1971 Duster, but has turned into what will be one of the most well restored Dusters ever. We included many of the features that made the AAR unique like the side exit exhaust, wide rear tires, AAR styled front and rear spoilers, hood scoop, and the 340 six barrel motor. Just as you and the may people that purchased cars fro you and brought cars to you to customize, we didn't want to be limited by what was offered by the factory. We made this car our own and built it the way we would have wanted to order it in 1971 if all the options of the day were available for this car.

BRAZILIAN NEWS...

Hi, Norm and Friends!!!
Is this my first letter to the club, and I ask you to forgive-me by eventual write errors (īcos i donīt speak and write nice the english language...)

I think iīm one of newest and far away fans of the club, but not of mopar world. Iīm brazilian, and breath charger since I was 9 years age, and learn to love muscle cars this time when i see my uncle car, an Brasilian Dodge Charger R/T. (In time, the Brasilian Dodge Charger R/T is an variant of the american Dodge Dart, with stetical diferences as split front gril over the front lights that giveīm the nick-name of a "Bind Dodge" and a "rabet" that give in a back a "fastback" appearence...

Mecanically, the charger come with a 318 V8, with 2 exaust manifold, that give him 215 Hp --with a brasilian gas--. This may appear weak compared to American Hemiīs and Magnunīs --that infortunly not even pass near from here--, but till now is most powerfull engine ever assembly here in Brazil to equip a sport or muscle car. The transmission is an shift guear Clarck 4 speed and a Danna differecial of 14:41 (the most part of this cars is chaned to 13:41, īcos itīs pratically impossible to find it here) that made it go till 124 mile/hour (200Km/h). The carburator is, no doubt, a weak point of a mecannical package a 2 barrows 446 DFV (me on the picture) (that changed by a holley 4 barrows -- now here as "quadrijet" let the car over 250Hp.In actual days, the Charger was a most loved car in us muscle era, but is veri dificult to find too.

Talk about the engines, by what we know, here in Brazil till the last year only exist one 426 Hemi in a imported Challenger, four 440 Magnumīs in imported Dartīs GTS and las than 15 383 Magnum equip Dartīs challengerīs and Super Beeīs... Here the 318 was (and is till now) the big dog of us muscle era. Hey... was forgetting.. in october os last year (2006) i finally make true an old dream... to buy my own (and one) Dodge Charger R/T 78, (Only two years newest than me) and slowly am putting it in form... (now at lass is on the road, but iīll change some peaces and regulate it better). In picture is my "brother in law" (Lewis Cypher Dodge) make some tweeks and adjusts...

I see ībout the club wen i was ask some information bout this carīs,and till now canīt believe that Norm Kraus in person ask some mine e-mails (as there, here he is too a legend). Even wen my car wasnīt "walk", many people com in my home ask ībout it and tell them historyīs. One time when i was try tweek the carburator (that for be worst, must be too much better) one old friendwas here and i ask for him to push down the accelerator... wen i finished, find in seat that old man that had rolling tears from him face... Than hi tell me him story too...

The Brazilian muscle era was made by some carīs as 318 V8 Chargerīs (4 speed) and Dartīs (3 speed in collumn direction), Ford maverickīs, Landauīs and Galaxyīs with 302 V8 (4 speed), and Chevrolet Opala SS (That is not the "Super Sport" and yet "Sparted Seatīs" with 250-s 6 cylinders and four speed (this car remember a american new chevy two "nova" 69).(I have too a Chevrolet Opala Comodoro ī86 151-s four cylinders, 5 speed of day use). In the picture my childīs: the "Avaloch" (Dodge Charger R/T ' 78) and "Zaiadan" (Chevrolet Opala Comodoro S/E ' 86).

Well iīm think now, i take more of ours time...

Y stay dispose to know more about story of your car, and change information and "personal touchīs" in us mopar engines, and promess ask each e-mail or letter (this may take a little time till i translate to the english).

Mr Norm,

Here's my other MOPAR that I fully restored.
It hosts a 360 4 - speed - (not a HEMI) ....but it's 350hp @ the crank and around 400 ft lbs of torque. through a 3.23 rear.

It has been on the road now 3 years, and has travelled 17,000km since the build. It drives and performs beautifully...I tell you what, it takes something pretty performance wise in the late model stakes to beat it !! - it just goes well for what it is.

This is the Australian Valiant..."A" body with Aussie panels wrapped around it basically. Tell me what you think?

cheers Norm,
Fletch.

Norm, here is a picture of my dads 1969 Dart Swinger he bought in 1970 and had for awhile in the 70's. He did a lot racing with it and held a class record at Assumption Raceway for awhile. The car had a reputation as being very fast here in the Twin Cities at that time. The car was bought new here in Bloomington at Harjack Motors, but the engine was built and sold from Grand Spaulding Dodge. He blew up the original motor racing. The motor from GSD was a 340 with lots of goodies including 2 4bbls and all the trick stuff. It was an automatic with a 3.91 rear. Needless to say, with that combo you are bound to win a few races!!!! The other picture is my mom and dad in June 1973, graduation night..... ahh the 70's!!!! He no longer has this car, but he wishes he could find it. oh, the lady sitting on the Dart is my mom in 1973.

Dear Mr Norm,
I would like to thank you for autographing the bulletins I purchased from you on Sunday July 9, 2006 at Carlisle, PA. Attached are the pictures of my Demon I was telling you about. My wife laughed when she saw the you autographed the bulletin to her.
Thanks your friend, Carl

Buddy of mine bought his Demon back from another buddy...they just trade around cars....This is one awesome car...Lot's of documentation, and looks good and still drives it...This may be one of the best Demons I have ever seen.....I hope he keeps it...He never keeps one very long, however I do know he likes this one a lot and he has had them all and they are all always either nice when he gets them or he gets them that way....He is really picky...wants original sheet metal and all the goodies.......

'68 Hemi Dart
Although not shown in any of these early photos, the car now proudly displays Mr Norms license plate frames on both front and rear plates. Note that the plate number is LO23, which as you know is the factory order option code for a ’68 Hemi Dart. I was shocked that it was still available in California, but since none of the original cars were street-legal, I can see why. GARY A. PERKINS

My dad used to bring me to the dealership when I was a kid. I marveled at the cars and now I have owned 16 and now currently own 3 very nice Mopars. I`m sending you a couple of shots of my cars. I do my own restoration at home and I buy a few and sell a few. These 3 cars are from my collection. I just finished the 69 Dart Swinger, and the other two are my 1970 Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack, Matching Numbers,18K original Miles, and my 68 Super Bee 37,K miles, matching Numbers. ENJOY!, John

73 Dodge Dart and original Mr. Norm Invoice. This car originated from Mr. Norm's Dealership and has quite a history. It was purchased in May 73 with a 340 supercharger, blown up at 900 miles, the original owner put a 69 426 Hemi built by the Ram Chargers in it. It was featured in Carcraft Magazine March 1978, and titled the "Bottle Baby" because of the Nitrous Bottle hidden in the Trunk. Additionally, it was featured in Popular Hot Rodding May 1978 and was titled "Laughing Gas Hemi". Since Then the only thing that has been done is a new paint job in the same Silver Tone Color. Upon taking ownership of the car, I added the original Black Stripe back. The car is in mint condition and has been garage kept all these years. It still runs fantastic with only upkeep mechanical work done. Two years ago, my wife saw an ad where you could possibly get Original Documentation that remained in storage, by providing the VIN # of suspected Mr. Norm's Car. She investigated it and subsequently obtained the Invoice in the picture attached.

1973 Duster 340 4 speed 37,000 Original Miles Mr Norms GSS Kit after purchase

My newly aquired 1969 Dart GT.
It was a nut and bolt resto, and is in show condition.

Originally a 273 car, it now has a fresh 340 out of a 1972 Demon. It has a 727 with a shift kit, 8.75" rear end, 3:91 gears, the original vinyl top, buckets with centre console with a floor shifter. The new paint is in the original color.

The car has poverty wheels with dog-dish hub-caps. It looks a but unassuming, but you may notice the Lakewood traction bars that help it to hook up. It's more than just a grocery getter or econo-box.

Can't wait to throw a set of slicks on it and flog it at the track!

Buddy in Indy that just finished this piece up....started out as a plain Jane 6 popper....Now has crate 360 in it....Car is new top to bottom....
